What is the ranking of each Assassin’s Creed game? Ubisoft‘s action-adventure stealth game is one of the most successful game series. This series was developed after a failed attempt to create a Prince of Persia, which was supposed to follow the story of the Hashashin sect in the Middle East. The first installment in the AC series came out in 2007. The game was a big hit and received positive reviews from critics and gamers. 12. Assassin’s Creed Unity
This is the ninth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. Unlike its predecessors, Unity didn’t receive many praises. The game received many negative reviews for the bugs and glitches it had upon its release in November 2014. Even the plot and missions of Unity felt vague compared to other Assassin’s Creed titles. But if you are a fan of French architecture and some high graphics games, then this game will tick that check box. The developers did an amazing job in capturing the details of French architecture in the game, that reports are suggesting the French government might use the games model of Notre Dame Cathedral to rebuild the real one.
The plot of AC Unity revolves around a player in the modern-day who tries Abstergo’s Helix gaming console to visit genetic memories. The player visits the memory of an assassin Arno Dorian who loses his father and then grew up in the household of Templar Grand Master De La Serre. He later faces imprisonment because of false charges for murdering the Grand Master. After escaping from poison, Arno joins the Paris Assassin brotherhood and also teams up with Elise, DE La Serre’s daughter to investigate the actual murderer. While solving the murder mystery, Arno also comes across the French Revolution and the Isu artifact, Sword of Eden. The AC Unity also shows the unlike love story between an Assassin and Templar, Arno and Elise.
11. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was released in 2017. There is no doubt it was an improvement over the failure of AC Unity. This game takes us in the setting of the Victorian era in England. The game introduced the latest features, like the rope launcher and weapons, like the cane sword and kukri. The game was praised for its gameplay and graphics. But it also received a bit of a negative review because of the story and characters. The game also introduces the first strong female character in the game’s series.
The modern-day player from AC Unity is now a member of Assassin Brotherhood, and he uses the Helix system to visit the memories of Frye Twins. Jacob and Evie Frye are twin brothers and among the last few members of the English Assassin Brotherhood. With the help of a fellow assassin, Henry Green, the Frye sibling sets on a journey to eradicate the control of Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick. Evie uses stealth to investigate the secrets behind Crawford’s influence in England. Whereas, Jacob is more rough and open, as he forms a gang to eradicate Crawford’s gang from the streets. The game also lets us visit a memory of Lydia Frye, Jacob’s granddaughter, who is also an assassin and fighting against German Templar spies during World War I.
10. Assassin’s Creed Rogue
Rouge is the seventh installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. It is the last AC game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Ubisoft released the game in 2015. The game had similar mechanics to its predecessor Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. But what made the game unique is that instead of showing the perspective of an assassin, it focused on a templar’s perspective.
The game takes place between the events of Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed III, during the Seven years’ war. It also serves as a prequel for AC Unity. The story shows us the story of an Assassin, Shay Patrick Cormack, who had the potential to be a master assassin one day at the Colonial Brotherhood. But as after his ideologies clashing with those in the Brotherhood, Shay leaves the Assassin Brotherhood and joins hands with Templars. Now, as a Templar, Shay hunts down assassins from acquiring Isu artifacts.
9. Assassin’s Creed
It is the first game in the series. The entire Assassin’s Creed series began with this game in 2007. This game resulted from a failed attempt to create a spin-off game for Prince of Persia. The gamers and critics praised the game because of the open-world setting and the storyline.
This game begins with Desmond Miles, whom an international organization Abstergo kidnaps, to perform some experiments. They put him in Animus, a device that allows the user to visit the memories of their ancestors. Desmond belongs to an assassin family, and they were using his genetics to visit the memories of Altair Ibn-La Ahad to retrieve the Apple of Eden. However, along the journey, Desmond gets to know about the war between Assassins and Templars. Further, Abstergo is none other than the modern-day incarnation of Templars, and they want the Apple to control humanity.
8. Assassin’s Creed Revelations
Revelations in the fourth game in the series and also the last part of the infamous “Ezio Trilogy”. This game has similar mechanics to the other two Ezio games. However, it introduced a new weapon, a hook blade which allows traveling and parkour faster because you can now swing via ziplines using the blades. The game was praised for the characters and plotline. Assassin’s Creed Revelations was a hit in 2011.
The plot takes place after the events of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. Desmond Miles is in a comatose state, and he needs to relive the memories of Ezio Auditore Da Firenze to separate his brain from Animus. 7. Assassin’s Creed Origins
“Origins” is the successor of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, released in 2017. The game was a revolution for the franchise, as the developers changed the entire game mechanics. It introduced a character leveling system that forced the players to complete side quests that players previously ignored. Further, now you can customize the entire outfit of an assassin. Also, they removed the mini-map system and replaced it with a compass. Also, the players can literally use an eagle to scout enemy bases other than the game’s typical eagle vision.
The game introduces us to a new modern-day character, Layla Hassan, who is reliving the memories of Bayek to retrieve some important information to get her job back at Abstergo. Bayek is the last Medjay of Egypt, who is on a quest to eliminate the member of an ancient cult. Because the cult members killed his son. Along the journey, Bayek discovers more about the history of the world and the cult. He also interacts with historical figures like Queen Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. Later, he along with his wife Aya creates a mysterious organization that fights evil from the shadows. The organization is called Hidden Ones, which later evolves into Assassin Brotherhood. Thus, this game serves as both a sequel and a prequel to the franchise.
6. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
This is the 12th and the most recent addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The game’s mechanics are pretty similar to the past two games, origins and Odyssey. Therefore, it received a bit of criticism for the repetitive element and game length. However, it was Crest for this storyline characters and the Viking Era they portrayed in the game. The game was released in November 2020, and it had the most successful launch ever in the history of the Assassin’s Creed series.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and the story revolves around Linus and one modern-day researcher who joins the Assassin Brotherhood. Layla is helping assassin William Miles to get the Isu artifacts ahead of Abstergo. Layla comes across the genetic memories of a Viking Raider, Eivor. However, Eivor’s DNA was damaged. Therefore Layla can either transform into a male or a female version of Eivor. Then, the story of Eivor evolves around him/her building his/her village and also fighting against the Order of the Ancient, which is actually Templars. On this journey, Eivor also comes across assassin Basim and his apprentice. In this game, we also witness places and people from Norse Mythology like Odin, Thor, Loki, and Asgard.

5. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Odyssey is a sequel to Assassin’s Creed Origins. This game is the 11th installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and was released on October 5, 2018. The game became an enormous hit among fans and gamers because it became an RPG game. This game also kept the character leveling system and exploration system from the past Assassin’s Creed Origins. However, there were a few fans who were against in new ideology as they didn’t like the RPG way of the game.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey takes place during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and the Spartans. The player control either a male or a female character, Alexios or Kassandra, who is a mercenary. Detect player takes parts on both sides of the war to find his lost brother and family. And on this journey, the. The Player comes across an issue artifact, The Staff of Hermes, and a mysterious organization called the Order of Ancient who is none other than Templars. In modern times, Layla Hassan has joined the Assassin Brotherhood, and she used one using the animus to find the staff in Alexios or Kassandra’s memories.

4. Assassin’s Creed III
This is the fifth game in the Assassin’s Creed series, and it continues after the events of Assassin’s Creed Revelations. In 2012, the game was released, and it was a massive hit for developers Ubisoft. The game mostly received positive reviews for its storyline, characters, and setting in the American Revolution. However, it also receives criticism because of the make game mechanics pacing and some missions. 2. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
Brotherhood is the third game in the franchise and his second game in the episode trilogy. The game had similar mechanics, plot, and setting to the past game Assassin’s Creed 2. The game received mostly positive reviews because of the narrative and the gameplay. However, it received a bit of criticism because the other plot being a little inferior to its predecessor. Ubisoft developed the game and released this game in December 2010.
The story continues after the events of Assassin’s Creed II. Ezio now in his 40s faces an attack on his town, Monteriggioni, from Cesare Borgia. This is the second installment in the game, and it’s not wrong to say that this is the most successful title in the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise. This game was a huge upgrade from the first Assassin’s Creed. It introduced us to the most beloved Assassin’s Creed character, Ezio Auditore Da Firenze. Further, in this game, the main character can swim, a factor that everyone criticized in the first game. Overall, the game received a lot of praise for its story, narration, and characters. Therefore, even after thirteen years of the game’s release, it is one of the most favorite games.
In this game, we see Desmond Miles escaping from the Abstergo facilities with the help of Lucy Stillman. Miles meets with fellow modern-day assassins, Rebecca and Shawn, who help him enter their own Animus to find the Apple of Eden in the memories of Ezio, an Italian Assassin. In 1476, we saw an arrogant Ezio who is a reckless young man who spends most of his day fooling around. But after his father and brothers are killed under false charges, Ezio flees his town with his mother and sister. Ezio then discovers his assassin heritage and seeks on a journey to become a master assassin and avenge his father and brothers’ death. On this journey, Ezio grows into a mature and wise man who not only takes his revenge but also eradicates the Templar’s influence from Italy.
